This course introduces students to the chemical substances that make up living organisms. Learners will study inorganic and organic chemicals of life, their structures, functions, and importance in living cells. The course covers water, mineral salts, carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, vitamins, and nucleic acids, and explains how these chemicals support life processes.
By the end of this course, students will be able to:

• Distinguish between organic and inorganic chemicals.
• Describe the structure and function of carbohydrates, proteins, and lipids.
